Travel Shravel offers day trip to Sudh Mahadev. It is also one of the popular places near to Patnitop. Sudh Mahadev is about 115 Kms from Jammu. Just short of Sudh Mahadev there is a spring called Gauri Kund, the Goddess Parvati worship the Shivling here. It is believed to be at least 3000 years old. The temple houses a black marble statue of local Shiva and Parvati. One can also see original trident (trishul) of Lord Shiva here at the temple. Pilgrims in large number visit the shrine on the full moon night of Sawan to participate in the festival. A few kilometers further ahead of Sudh Mahadev is Mantalai (1450 meters). Mantalai is encircle by lush Deodar forests. As per legend, Mantalai is the place where Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva get auspicious knot of marriage. You can opt for a day trip from Katra Udhampur Jammu.

Besides the Shiv temple here one can also visit the complex created by Swami Dhirendra Brhamchari which includes a tree shaped house an air strip a hostel and a number of other unfinished project. An excursion through the woods to Naina Devi 5 Kms from Mantalai provides excellent views of the mountain landscape all round. Sudh Mahadev is about 48 Kms from Udhampur and it takes around 90 Minutes (one way) to when you head for a day trip from Udhampur. Other places near to Patnitop are Kud – famous for Patisa (a sweet), Nathatop, Sanasar and Batote. This is just in case.
